What to purchase in town before coming out to Lucky’s Beach Houses

Houses.

Food – We do have cooktops for each House/Fale. We supply a bar of soap, coffee, tea and sugar in each room. You will need to purchase all of your other food and supplies.

The farmer’s market sells fresh produce, seafood, eggs and handicrafts and is open Monday – Friday from 9am – 4pm and on Saturdays from 9am – 12pm.

The smaller stores are open Monday – Saturday 7am – 11pm. They do not carry fresh produce. The stores carry eggs, bread, frozen food, meat, fish, poultry, cheese, butter, and refrigerated beverages.

There are small window shops in our village, within walking distance of Lucky’s. They are locally owned by Tongan families and usually open in the evenings only. They sell a very limited selection of packaged food items like cookies, noodles, and bread. If no one is at the window, simply holler out and they will come assist you.

Alcohol – Get it before you come out as it is only available in Neiafu (town).

Drinking water – We have untreated rain water out of the tap, which is generally safe to drink, but if you prefer to drink bottled-water please purchase in town.  Please do not drink from the outside tap located near the beach.

Tongan Education

We have decided to make a small request to the wonderful people that come to stay with us.  If you have enough space in your bags and the desire to help the children in our village, we ask that you bring some basic school supplies to be donated to the village primary school.  The school and the local children are always in need of things like pencils, crayons, paper and class 1 – 6 reading materials.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you have any questions about other needs, please do not hesitate to contact us.
